Jonathan "JJ" Jackson is an accomplished saxophonist, pianist, and arranger from the Chattanooga area.  JJ went to Hixson High school where he flourished as award winning drum major for the Hixson Wildcat Band under the direction of Frank Hale.  He placed in the All-State Tennessee Concert Band and Jazz Band and won the John Phillip Sousa Award for his accomplishments.

JJ attended Samford University and graduated in 2000, with honors (cum laude), receiving a Bachelor of Music in Music Education.  At Samford, he was a member of the Samford Jazz ensemble, Samford Wind Ensemble, and Samford Marching Bulldogs.  His senior year, he won honorable mention in the annual school concerto competition.  Thereafter, JJ taught as a middle school band director in the Hamilton County School System.  He also joined the staff of Central Baptist Hixson where he arranged music for the church orchestra and praise band, and served as staff music librarian.

JJ has played with various groups around Chattanooga.  They include the American Legion, Tony D'Andrea's Jazz Band I, Central Baptist Church Orchestra, and the UnumProvident Big Band.  He has been a member of the Sweet Georgia Sound since January 2003.  He is happily married to his beautiful bride Brandi.  Brandi is currently an employee of Memorial Hospital while JJ works at UnumProvident.
