Kit
has had a life-long love affair with music. He began performing at the age
of 4 and has not stopped in 36+ years. He grew up in Morgantown, KY
(population, 2000), as the oldest son of a Baptist preacher. His earliest
memories as a child include singing with his siblings while his father
accompanied them on guitar and recorded them on an old reel-to-reel tape
recorder.
While growing up in a little town, Kit performed in various high school
musicals and community theatre projects. He was cast in the lead role 3 out
of 4 years while performing in his annual Butler County High School
musicals.
After graduating from high school, Kit went on to attend Western KY
University, in Bowling Green, KY. There, he had a dual major of Pre-Med and
Music (vocal concentration). During his time at WKU, he became a member of
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a professional music fraternity. He left WKU after 1
year to enlist in the military.
After a successful enlistment in the US Navy—which included 4 years of
active duty and 4 years of Naval Reserve, Kit returned to the University of
KY and obtained his nursing degree. He never lost his love of music and
spent his college and military years involved various rock and country
bands.
In 1998, after some major personal life changes, Kit went into the studio
and recorded his first solo Contemporary Christian album, entitled "The
Prodigal". Since then, he has performed at various churches, outdoor
festivals and events and has been a featured artist on the Trinity
Broadcasting Network.
Kit joined the Sweet Georgia Sound Big Band in November 2002; now that he
has done swing and jazz, he can honestly say he’s "done it all". He credits
Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra as being most influential to his style.
Kit also has a business degree from Covenant College. He is employed by
BlueCross BlueShield of TN and resides in Chickamauga, GA with his wife and
2 children.
