A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he grew up in the Oak Grove Community and was a well known musician who was the founder and leader of the Manny Bowen Trio who played Jazz and Big Band music in and around Chattanooga for many years. At the time of his death, he was the Sales Manager for Crutcher Pianos and was a member of the Brainerd Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post #95 and the Musicians Union Local #80 AFM. He played baseball for Central High School from 1944-45 and also played in the East Lake League from 1948-54. He coached women’s softball, fast pitch and slow pitch for over 20 years and was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Bowen. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Bowen; two daughters, Jackie Bowen and Debbie Moon both of Harrison; step-daughter, Michelle Miller, Smyrna, TN; six grandchildren, Blake Moon, Valarie Moon Wheatcroft, Austin Mull, Connor Grott, Trevor Grott and Baby Jack Miller.
